Summer in Britain can be a little awkward. While your makeup might be sliding off your face by lunchtime, balmy summer evenings are few and far between, and more often than not, us Brits find ourselves reaching for the thermals come 7PM! For that reason, day to night dressing is a little difficult on the British Isles. However, I have a few wardrobe staples which are proving to be perfect for those nippy summer evenings, so today, I thought I’d share my go-to summer night outfit, featuring two new fashion favourites! Curious?
THE POLKADOT RUFFLE BLOUSE
I bought this black polkadot ruffle blouse as part of my recent Boohoo haul, and I knew from the moment I tried it on that this would be worn within an inch of its life! With a ruffle high neck, huge ruffle details to the front, as well as flared sleeves, this little number is all over the SS17 trends! It’s slightly sheer which makes it a little more breathable in the warmer months and adds to its overall femininity. At only £20, it’s a total bargain, too!
THE CUT OFF JEANS
I usually favour stretchy soft denim with a high waist, but to my surprise, I’ve found a new favourite in these Dr Denim cut offs. Despite their 100% cotton rigidity and mid-rise waist, I have never worn a pair of jeans that fit this snugly! The cropped length and light blue wash make this pair of Dr Denims the perfect summer jeans, and the distressed, raw hems help, too! They’re currently on sale at £10 below RRP at the link below, so if you like them, snap them up before they disappear!
THE CHLOÉ FAYE DUPE
The Chloé Faye is a blogger favourite which has lasted and lasted against the trends. Whether you think that’s a good thing or not, you can’t deny it’s longevity, which is why dupes are popping up all over the place! I like to think I was ahead of the times, because I actually got this one from ASOS in April last year, meaning it’s sadly no longer available. However, there are plenty of beautiful dupes online right now, so head down to the widget at the bottom of the post to shop!
THE ALL PURPOSE MULES
Thanks to a much appreciated Topshop gift card, I managed to nab these simple mules for a whopping £3.40, and they’ve already been worth every penny (see here, here and here!). Though the mid-height heel isn’t the most flattering, it’s extremely comfortable, and that takes priority in my book! I wore these for miles of walking up and down hills and across uneven terrain in Tenerife last week, proving they’re the perfect all purpose summer shoe.
